WALLINGFORD, STOLEN MATERIALS RECOVERED

During November of 2004, Sunwood Development Corp. experienced a theft at one of their Wallingford construction sites. Siding materials worth $7,500 were taken with no expectations of ever recovering the materials or catching the thieves.

Much to their surprise, Sunwood received a call from an observant workman in May of 2005. He had located what he believed was the stolen siding. The police were contacted and Sunwood confirmed that their siding had been found in a garage in Hamden.

After investigation, the Hamden property owner was arrested, convicted and sentenced to a two-year conditional discharge (a three-year jail term if convicted of another infraction within the two year conditional discharge).

The attached photograph shows John DiMatteo of DiMatteo Insurance Services, Inc. presenting a reward check to Robert Wiedenmann, President of Sunwood Development Corp. This reward check has since been presented to the workman, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Mr. Wiedenmann wants to make the public aware that job site thefts are way too numerous an occurrence and increases the costs of housing for all of us. He would like to encourage everyone, especially those living near a new neighborhood, to stay alert and contact the local police if they notice any unusual activities in order to lessen job site thefts.
