Fourth Annual DiMatteo Family Charitable Foundation
Raises $12,000 for Three Charities
SHELTON —The DiMatteo Family Charitable Foundation recently raised $12,000 for three area charities at its Fourth Annual Charity Golf Tournament held at Oronoque Country Club in Stratford. The foundation is a not-for-profit organization registered in Connecticut and established by the DiMatteo Insurance Service Center in Shelton. Since its inception, the foundation has raised an impressive $80,000 for over 10 well-known local and national charities.
This popular golf tournament had a full roster of 136 players and was co-chaired by John DiMatteo of Bethany, Sharon Golis of Seymour, Shelton residents Robert and Loretta Lesko, Rosemarie Esposito; and Victoria DiMatteo of West Haven.
Other volunteers included the following 11 Shelton residents: Lena and Tony DiMatteo, Theodora Fatibene, Barbara Gelozin, Nicole Esposito, Natalie and Alyssa Lesko, Nancy Opitz, Andrea Strada, Bobbi Wagemaker and Maureen Yash. In addition, Emily Hirsh of Monroe also was on the committee.
Following the tournament, a cocktail reception, dinner and sports memorabilia silent auction was coordinated by Mike Riccio Sports, LLC of Westport.
Generous gold sponsors included: DiMatteo Insurance Service Center and Preferred Tool and Die, Inc./Preferred Precision, both located in Shelton; HRinterax, Inc. of Waterbury, and Bella Pietra Kitchen & Bath of Darien.
Three local charities were the recipients of this year’s golf tournament: St. Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound in Bridgeport for cancer screening and prevention; the American Heart Association in Wallingford for heart disease and the Connecticut Families for Effective Autism Treatment in West Hartford for autism support.

DiMatteo, CFP, CCPS, President, DiMatteo Insurance Service Center. “Our Family Foundation is committed to funding research, education and finding a cure for diseases that have touched the lives of our friends, families, clients and staff during the past year. We appreciate the generosity of all our sponsors and the many golfers who participated. In the future, we look forward to continued support from the community and raising additional funds for vital services provided by area health care organizations.”
Established in 1960, DiMatteo Insurance Service Center of Shelton is a family owned and operated insurance, employee benefits and financial services organization that will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010. The agency’s services include personal, commercial, life and health insurance, investments and financial planning and tax preparation.
